DO YOU KNOW THAT....

While going through a local newspaper, i came across an article explaining how exposure to too much light at night may cause depression. Ohio state university researchers found that mice kept in a lighted room 24hours a day had more depressive symptoms than that had a normal day night cycle. The inability to escape light seemed to quell the depressive effects. The findings indicate the need to learn more about how artificial light affects humans. Therefore the increasing rate of depressive disorders in humans corresponds with the increasing use of light at night in moderated society. Many are now exposed to unnatural light cycles and that may have real consequence for our health.

IDEAS FOR MANAGING ANGER AND DEPRESSION

Anger is an emotion that is as natural as any other; it has a tendency to eataway at the soul of the person who does not understand its role in their lives. Yes, anger does have its place and everyone will experience it. In fact, this emotion is highly beneficial to us at times. However, you do yourself a grave disservice by remaining angry. Holding onto anger until it becomes bitter resentment is a fail-safe way to disallow the benefits of Law of Attraction.
Your anger is not harming the person to whom it is directed. In fact, many people spend decades being angry with someone who barely (if at all) remembers the event that caused the anger. That person’s life will not be changed by your anger, but yours will.
By not overcoming what you think and feel about the circumstances surrounding your anger, you give up your own power. You hold yourself in a state of mind that is not in alignment with your life purpose.

The key question: Are they worth it? Are the people who have wronged you worth the price that you are paying? Keep reading if the answer is no.
Anger has its place.
One thing to remember is that anger is a useful emotion that has its place in our lives. Don’t be afraid to follow your Inner Guidance when you are being called from a state of depression to one of anger.
Depression, which often results from repressed anger, is actually anger in a new form. It is anger turned inwards. And that is the worst thing that you could do to yourself. So, allow yourself to feel anger, hatred, or even rage for a short while. Draw pictures of the person and scratch their eyes out if you feel like it. Scream, yell, cry, or jump up and down. Have an angry pillow fight with your sofa. Do whatever you must do to honor and validate your own feelings, but plan to move on for your own benefit.
Forgiveness is the answer.
Many people refuse to forgive because they feel that the other person does not deserve it. They hold a grudge as if it is somehow paying back the person with whom they are angry. However, forgiveness is not for the other person. You must let go and forgive so that you may live out your life purpose. Yes, you also have the ability to spend your entire life being angry, but this choice will create life experiences that are not in harmony with what you want.

It is not what they did, but what you think about what they did. Your feelings are not the result of anything outside of yourself, so do not hold anyone else responsible for them. The way that you feel is always a reflection of what you are thinking. No matter what has happened, you remain in control of your reality. You are empowered to practice the art of allowing by releasing resistant thoughts and letting law of attraction deliver your ideal life. However, you are equally empowered to remain angry, thus using undesirable circumstances as an excuse to disallow the joyful life that is your birthright.

If you allow angry thoughts to rankle in your mind, realize that you are the one creating your misery. Also realize that you are fully empowered to change it when you are ready. You owe it to yourself to have thoughts that summon law of attraction in a non-resistant way, thus creating the life of your dreams.

IS UNIVERSAL LWA OF ATTRACTION FOR LAZY PEOPLE?

I read some feedback in an online group from a person who believed that the Law of Attraction teaches laziness. After all, they reasoned, there is no reason to actually do anything if you can truly be, do, and have whatever you want simply by thinking of it. So does that mean that we can all sit around thinking without taking action? Absolutely not!

The movie “The Secret” is one of many sources that introduce the Law of Attraction to the masses; however, it left many people with an oversimplified explanation of this Universal Law. If you don’t continue seeking to understand Law of Attraction once you’ve been introduced to it, you may indeed have misconceptions such as this one about negating action.
The problem for many people is that they try to make everything happen through their action alone.

THE POWER OF OUR BELIEF SYSTEM

Our belief system is a powerful part of our being. It decides who we are and what we become, both mentally and physically. The belief system is formed by perceptions and acceptance. When these perceptions of ourselves, whether false or true, negative or positive, are accepted as truth by our subconscious mind, they drop into our belief system and become reality.
I’m sure many of you remember the famous line from the movie Field of Dreams, “If you build it, they will come.” I would like for you to remember this: “If you believe it, it will be.” Any way you do the math, it still comes out the same: perception + belief = your reality.When we are first separated from our mother’s womb, we become like a tape recorder, and our subconscious mind is like a blank tape, waiting to be programmed.
As the analytical part of the mind is not fully developed until around age thirteen, the subconscious readily accepts and believes whatever it hears and sees as truth. Young children have no concept of who they are. Their self-image is formed by what they’ve been told by others and how they perceive things to be. It can even be formed by things they’ve overheard. “Ooo … He’s so bad!” “You look so pretty!” “You’re so strong!” “You don’t listen!” “She’s not good at math.” Think about it, what self-image are you helping to form in your child? Is it good, or is it filled with negatives? Children will live up not only to their own perceptions, but also to yours.

THINKING ABOUT THE FUTURE OF NIGERIAN YOUTHS

It worries one to think that the future of the Nigerian youth is uncertain because it lacks direction. There is an argument that young Nigerians don’t have sound set of values or models to look up to. The reason for this write-up is to showcase inspiring Nigerians all over the world who are doing Nigeria proud, individuals the younger generation could model and pattern their lives after.
These individuals through what they do and through whatever instrument that is in their hand motivate and inspire the public. You see motivation can come in various forms and by various means.
Messages like “Be you, be free, be brilliant,” “If it doesn’t exist, then you are lucky; invent it,” “Hard is a reality, difficult is a myth…impossible doesn’t exist,” “People think it, great people think it and do it,” “Achieve the extraordinary” is a reflection
of the bank PHB’s work ethics. To succeed in any Endeavour, one must develop the habit of
thinking positive.
Mr. Atuche is a great thinker and it showed on the activities of the bank earning them the name the thinking bank. According to Dayo Lawuyi, former managing director of Dunlop Nigeria Plc, “Strategic thinking should be a team effort but the CEO must do the initial thinking…. All I have to do is to tell my colleagues about the vision because they are experts in their own fields. They will then come with their ideas and we create together. It is a team work but the CEO cannot exonerate himself from the leadership.”
Creativity is very important in whatever we are doing. It was Dale Dauten who observed “If you want to be creative in your company, your career, your life, all it takes is one easy step… the extra one. When you encounter a familiar plan, you just ask one question: What else could we do?”You must make it your business to be visible
We must be futuristic. According to Ted Levitt “The future belongs to people who see possibilities for profiting before they become obvious to all.” You will agree with me that the youths are the future. Lastly, we must appreciate God for the inspiration to do whatever we are doing.

TIPS ON DISCOVERING YOUR DREAM...#3

Here is the final stage. And hope my write was useful.
Food for thought…
Simplify:
one purpose. Once you've defined your dream, focus on it completely. That means you need to put any other goals on the backburner for now, and have only one purpose in your life. Later, you can focus on other goals, but if you have multiple goals, you will become distracted and lose purpose. Focus so that you are keeping your focus on that one thing.

Use a mantra. A great way to keep you focused is to use Guy Kawasaki's idea of creating a mantra instead of a mission statement. Stew your goal down to a few words. Guys' mantra: empower entrepreneurs. What's yours? Once you've defined your mantra, print it out, post it up, and say it several times a day.
Set aside time each day. You will not go anywhere if you don't devote time to your dream. Set aside an hour (or at least 30 minutes) each day for working towards your dream. If you can do more, great, but one step at a time is all it takes. Set aside time either in the morning, or in the evening, or some time when you know you will do it every day. Make it a habit, and you will succeed.

Pretend you can't fail. Imagine that you cannot fail, that you may slip up and fall, but that you will get up and learn from that fall. Take away all fear of risk and loss, and believe in your success. Now act as if you cannot fail. And by acting so, you will make it happen.
Live as you want to be remembered. How do you want to be remembered when you die? This is a common method for deciding how to live your life. If you want to be remembered for realizing your dream, then don't start on it when it's too late. Start on it now. Live your life so that your dream actually comes true.

TIPS ON DISCOVERING YOUR DREAM...# 2

Here is a continuation. please read through i am very sure by the end of this post you would have discovered your dream and how to achieve them dreams.
Food for thought...
What environment do you enjoy working in? An office, a college, a classroom, a construction site, the ocean, the forest? Where you work is also an important factor in your dream job.
List your top 5 passions. Now that you've given various factors some thought, and tried some online tools, make a short list of your top 5 passions. If you don't have 5, list as many as you have. Then compare your top 5 passions, and rank them from top to bottom. This will be the starting point your guide to making your dream a reality.
How can you turn your passions into your work? Of the top 2-3 passions on your short list, can any of them be turned into your life's work? What professions use those passions as a mainstay of their work? How would you get into those professions, and do you think you would love what you do if you did them?

Create a clear vision. Clarity of vision is the key to achieving your dream once you've discovered it. Take some time to think about exactly what your dream is, what your dream job would be, how you see yourself doing it, where you are, what you're surrounded by, who you're working with, what tools you're using, the benefits to you and others. Write it down, and try to make it as clear as possible. You should be able to visualize this dream in your head. The more real it seems in your mind, the more likely it is that it will become reality.
Create a roadmap. Once you've clearly pictured your destination, what's left is creating a map for getting to that destination. Try backwards planning: what's the last step you'd have to do before attaining your goal? What would the last step be before that step? Keep going backwards until you get to the first step. Then focus all your efforts on that first step.

Brainstorm. Sometimes there are more than one road to get to a destination. Brainstorm a bunch of ideas for getting there, a bunch of actions you can take to move yourself closer to your destination. Then put them together into your roadmap. Even if you don't have a complete roadmap, having a clearly defined destination, and taking the first step, are enough to get you started.
Do research. Learn as much as you can about your dream. Check out some books from the library, do some web surfing, talk to others who are knowledgeable. Become an expert on the topic.

How are others doing it? Find others who are living your dream. Read about them, write to them, meet with them. Find out what steps they took to get there, what's required, how they did it. Then use that information for your roadmap.
Practice, practice. While you're taking your steps to realizing your dream, practice your passion as much as possible. Practice, of course, makes perfect ... and you want to be as good at what you want to do as humanly possible. This isn't an easy step, but it's worth it.

Get inspired. Find others who are trying to achieve the same dream, see what obstacles they've face and how they've overcome them. Put up photos from magazines to inspire you. Read motivational quotes. If you're inspired, you will have the energy needed to get there.
Get motivated. Along those lines, find motivation to keep you on your path. Motivation and focus are the keys to achieving any goal. What are your motivations? Making a public commitment, setting up rewards, inspiring yourself, tracking your progress and finding a partner are great ways to motivate yourself.

TIPS ON DISCOVERING YOUR DREAM...# 1

One of the most important rules of happiness in life is to do what you love. But discovering that dream job and what you are meant to do in life isn't always so easy.But what do you do if you don't know what you want to do? If you don't know what your dream is? This is a common problem, and many people wander through much of their life without discovering their passion, and go from job to job, unfulfilled and miserable.If that's you, don't give up. What follows is a list of suggestions that will help you discover your dream, and start on the road to living that dream. They're things that have worked for me and many others I've studied, talked to, interviewed and admired. If you spend time thinking about your dreams, you are taking the first step towards making them a reality.

What are your hobbies? -- it means anything you do with your spare time. That could be books, reading about history, programming Linux utilities, writing on your blog, writing poetry, cooking, whatever. As it's clear that this is how you like to spend your time, and that you're willing to do these things without pay, Give each of your hobbies some thought, and think about whether they're things you love to do, and that you'd love to do for a living.

What are your talents? It's been said that each of us have at least one gift we've been given, and that the true purpose of our lives is discovering that gift, and sharing it with the world. There is much truth in that statement, and an important part of this process is discovering your gift. What are you good at? What talents do you have? What have you shown an aptitude for in your current and previous jobs, in school, in your personal life? Anything goes here.

Who do you like to work with? A dream job includes not only what you want to do, but who you are doing it with. You should truly enjoy working with these people. In this step, you can name specific people you love working with, or types of people (creative types, programmers, entrepreneurs, blue collar, etc.). Use your ideas here to help you envision your dream job (more on that below).

What do you like to work with? The tools of the job are very important. If you love working with computers (even a specific type of computer), that's a clue to your dream job. If you love working with clay, or paper, or people, or clothes, that's a clue. If you like working with a hammer, or a piano, you're off to a great start in discovering your dream.

A PLEA FOR THE NIGERIAN CHILD

The report specifically stated that over a million Nigerian under-five children die each year from preventable diseases such as whopping cough, polio, measles and pneumonia, making Nigeria one of the top 12 countries with the highest under-five mortality rate in the world. Also, according to the report, nearly a third of the country’s children are under-weight and about half of the country’s total population has no access to safe drinking water. The report further disclosed that the Nigerian child is faced with severe cases of under-nutrition, a factor which contributes to about half of all deaths among the under-five.
Condition of the Nigerian child still shows no sign of significant improvement. This much is apparent in the recent release of the 2008 United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) "State of the World’s Children Report". The section on Nigeria is tellingly grim, a very disturbing story of insufficient concern, if not outright neglect of society’s most vulnerable group.


This is the grim reality of the Nigerian child, an existence marked by the most difficult of struggles for survival, from the womb to the tomb. For most, it is a miserable life that more often than not is cut short as a result of the absence of the basic necessities of life. In life, he or she is often unloved, unwanted and even abandoned, left all alone to face society’s cruel fates.
In Nigeria, he or she is an adult even before he has matured, forced to fend for himself or herself and made to bear the burden of the gross follies and failures of the adults who run the affairs of society. He is the perfect study case in exploitation, neglect and abandonment.
On its part, UNICEF, in its concern for the Nigerian child has called on all the states in the country to implement the Integrated Maternal, New-born and Child Health Strategy (IMNCH), a policy that encompasses the Accelerated Child Survival and Development (ACCD).

According to UNICEF, the ACCD promotes the selection of low-cost and high impact intervention packages such as strengthening routine immunization, Vitamin A supplementation, exclusive breastfeeding, Oral Rehydration Therapy (ORT) and the use of Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs). These measures, if fully implemented May not just put us on the road to meeting the MDGs target date of 2015 for reducing under-five mortality rate by two-thirds, but more importantly improve the overall health and wellbeing of our children.
The Nigerian child has been battered and abandoned long enough. Is it not time we listened to his pleas for mercy, for concern, for love and above all his call to us to relieve him of the terrible pains he has been in since birth? Shouldn’t his everyday tears move us to action? Shouldn’t his cries be our cries, his pains, our pains, his hunger our hunger and his vulnerability our vulnerability also? He is precious and invaluable, God’s priceless gift to mankind. The kind of tomorrow we want for our country is dependent on the kind of investment we make in the child today. This therefore means that our future, including our desire to be among the top 20 world economies by 2020 is tied to what we make of him or how we treat him today. Here then is the stark choice before us: treat him well now and reap a bountiful future or continue to abandon him and the country will continue to be consigned to backwardness.

HAVING A POSITIVE ATTITUDE TO LIFE BRINGS MANY REWARDS


I am the type of person who used to have a very negative attitude to most aspects of life. I am not alone in thinking this way as most of the people I meet seem to be constantly moaning about different things and basically feeling sorry for themselves. This article looks at the reasons and benefits of having a more positive outlook on life.
About ten years ago I decided that I needed to have a change of approach. I wanted to be a happy and care-free person and was fed up of always being stressed and worrying about the future. To achieve this I started to read many self-help, confidence type books and websites.
There was a regular message which came from this literature which was to think more positive and to believe in your ability to succeed in whatever you attempt to do.
This is easy to write or say, but in reality it is difficult to implement in practice. Of course I tried but in truth I did not really believe in the whole practice. I would go into a task thinking, I can do this, but it would still end up in failure.
I could not understand what was going wrong so I therefore went back to the books to try to learn more. There was a new and even more important message which I had missed the first time around. What I had to do was to take a positive out of whatever happens to me, even if this is learning from my failings.
As an example of taking a positive from whatever happens in life, is something which happened in my family recently. My nan has recently passed away, she was eighty-eight. I used to visit her at least once a week at the flat where she lived. She was a very honest person and always talked very openly to me. Around two months before she died she told me that she was very tired and that she no longer wanted to be on this planet.
I was quite shocked by her admission and asked her what was wrong. She stated that she had nothing to look forward to and that she did not want to reach a point where she could no longer bath herself etc. She continued that she hoped that I would not grieve for to long when she did die and that she wanted me to be happy for her.
This was quite upsetting for me to hear but at least she was being honest of course. Two months later my dad phoned me and told me that my nan had passed away in the night.
I was obviously upset and the thought of never being able to see her again hit me hard. I then thought about what she had said and looked up to the sky and gave my nan a smile and a message, I love you.
I thought positive about the whole event and was actually happy for her. I hope that one day we will meet again.

Words are spirits and they are powerful. what we say is what happens to us. Let us therefore practice the art of positive confession. Below are examples. Say them as often as you can and what your life become a miracle.

Life seldom presents one with only good things and thus we are stuck dealing with hardships and events not to our liking. How can we do this without resorting to unenlightened tactics such as whining, anger and stress?

NIGERIA: WHAT'S THE FUTURE PLAN

Nigeria relies on crude oil sales for more than 90 percent of its export earnings. With the dramatic drop in the price of crude oil in the wake of the global economic crisis, Nigeria’s income has diminished. The drop in the price of crude oil and the sweeping panic following the sub-prime mortgage market collapse in the U.S. in 2008 saw foreign investors pulling their money out of the country and resulted in a shortage of hard currency. This led to a fall in the value of the local currency, the Naira. In the black market, where most Nigerians source their hard currency dropped by about 50 percent. The official rate also fell to N145. Inflation Higher production costs for the manufacturing sector are transferred on to consumers leading to inflation. Just like the manufacturing sector, small businesses transfer some of their costs to the consumer. According to Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics, inflation rose from 8.2 percent in April, to 9.7 percent in May. The rising inflation and the inability of many Nigerians to cope with it have caused some disquiet around the country. In May, workers started a series of demonstrations to demand higher pay. The main workers union, the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, wanted the minimum wage - currently the equivalent of 30 dollars a month - to rise to about 300 dollars. These greatly increased wages say NLC officials, were needed to cushion the effects of inflation.Ismail Bello, an official of the workers' union, fears the worst if the government goes ahead with deregulation. "For us deregulation will mean further increase in prices of petroleum products. For workers we believe that deregulation will bring more pain, it will result in an increase in prices," he said He adds that deregulation "will result in [further] inflation, it will depress workers pay which is already very depressed given the kind of economic crisis that we are going through."

EDISON: AN INSPIRING TRUE STORY

I have always been amazed by Edison, who had filed 400 patents between 1876 and 1884, at approximately a patent a week. Isn't he remarkable?
This is a true story which i came across from one of the Newsletters which was trying to explain about "things ahead of its time". It seems that Edison liked to demonstrate his phonograph by allowing people to speak into the machine and then playing the recording back for them. However, the technology was outside almost everyone's conceptual understanding. Up to that point in history, the only thing that could mimic the sound of one's voice was a ventriloquist, so people thought it had to be a trick. Clergymen came to pronounce it "the devil's work" and to discredit Edison.
But here's the really fun part. Edison used to charge people 25 cents to try to "fool the machine." A person who spoke Latin (a dead language) would speak Latin into it and, of course, it would speak Latin back to the person. People wondered how Edison was able to teach a machine to speak Latin. A person would speak Chinese into the machine and it would speak Chinese back to them. Again, people would wonder how the "Wizard of Menlo Park" taught the machine to speak Chinese.
People simply did not understand the concept of a recording.

HOW TO DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT IN LIFE

1. Try new things. Don’t be afraid of failure or afraid that you won’t enjoy something. Just because you decide to try something doesn’t mean you will be stuck with it.
I wanted to try a mind/body exercise program. I went to Tai Chi and Qiqong classes but didn’t really enjoy them that much. However I also tried yoga, I immensely enjoyed it and I have stuck with it since. Not everything new you try will stick. But by trying new things you will find something you have a passion for.

2. Imagine you have time and money freedom. Imagine that you didn’t have to go to work anymore. And imagine you had an unlimited amount of money. Lets say I gave you 10 billion dollars right now. How would you spend your days? What would you do with your time if there was nothing that you had to do but only things that you wanted to do? Most people think they would spend the rest of their life swinging in a hammock on the beach. But that would get pretty boring after a while and you would look for exciting things to do.

3. Become aware of your cultural myths.Two kids, a dog, a house in the suburbs and a white picket fence. Sound familiar? Shelve these. They are what your culture tells you to want.

4. Expel other people’s desires. If other people’s dreams have found there way into your subconscious you need to become aware of these and then expel them. If you are living out your parent’s dream then you will never be truly happy.

5. Figure out your own truth. You may have been brought up to believe that success is getting a good job and making a lot of money. If you don’t consciously correct that belief then that scenario will play out. You need to manually override that with your own truth. I believe that success is actually about creatively expressing yourself, having new experiences and forming human relationships. Believing that then allows me to open myself up to figuring out what it is that I really want.

6. Listen to your inner voice. We get inner nudges all the time but more often than not we are too cowardly to follow them. Listen to your inner voice this time and follow that hunch. It might lead you to a great realization and maybe you will finally decide what it is that you want from life.

LINKING THE PHYSICAL PURPOSE TO THE SPIRITUAL

Indigenous cultures are animists. They could see the presence of the divine in everything and understood the way in which the universe worked. We lost this knowledge during civilization which either taught that god was a separate entity to the physical world or that the universe was a physical construct devoid of divinity.

But the knowledge was retained by mystics who held onto it in secret. It was also held onto by indigenous cultures such as the Kahunas of Hawaii. Now it is being rediscovered by quantum physics. Living as a leaver, as an animal and the seeking of self-realization and union with the divine to me go hand in hand.

It is much easier to experience the presence of the divine whilst living as a leaver. It’s much harder to do whilst living in a civilization that is trying to divorce itself from nature. Alternatively if enough people were seeking union with the divine from within civilization we would most likely go back to living as leavers because no one would be fussed with building pyramids or corporations or developing mastery over the world.

So that is what I have come up with as man’s purpose in life. To live as a leaver and to seek union with the divine. So do one or the other or both. Each leads to the other. They are not two separate purposes but one that expresses itself in two different ways.YOUR PURPOSE IS IN GOD. THE DAY YOU FIND HIM, THAT'S THE DAY YOU FIND YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE!!!

OUR SPIRITUAL PURPOSE

God gave us a spiritual purpose in life simply put is self-realization, to experience God, to experience union with the divine.
The universe is made up out of energy. It is all the same stuff, just changing form. Our minds, our thoughts and our consciousness are also made up of energy. Everything and everyone is intimately connected. Not just through this energy field. We are the energy field.
We are taught to think of ourselves as separate entities, as individuals. If you and I stand face to face it appears that there is a space between us. But it is just energy in a different form. Where does my body end and the space begin and when does the space end and your body begin. They don’t end and they don’t begin.

Nothing ends and nothing begins. Everything just is. Essentially that is the purpose, to realize the nature of the universe and then to experience it. To experience bliss, to feel yourself alive with divine energy.
There is no separation between God and the physical universe. They are one and the same. The physical universe is the essence of the divine manifesting and expressing itself in a variety of ways.

This is the view of mystics, pantheists, animists and even quantum scientists. It may seem to fly in the face of scientific reason by this view is actually supported by quantum physics. Even at a basic biological and chemical level we know that all matter is made out of the same stuff. It’s all on the periodic table but still they deny the power that made it. It all did'nt evolve as the big bang theory claim, there is a greater spirit out there which we must come in contact with. the great Elohim.

What they don’t teach you in science at high school is that this stuff on the periodic table is the essence of life, the divine force that is all creation.
Once we realize and understand that this is the nature of creation all we do is experience it. Blissfully experience it.

And because we are the energy field and because our thoughts are energy frequencies we can impact the energy field with our minds. In short we can use our minds to shape the world around us.
We can use the divine energy flowing in, out and around us and shape it. We can use it to creatively express our desires, just as we ourselves are the creative expression of the energy substance.

The Purpose Of Life

The purpose of life is a question that has been tackled by a whole lot of thinkers throughout history, by philosophers, religious men and even a fair number of bloggers. Yet THEY have never quite found a complete answer that I am happy with.
Maybe it is because there is no answer, maybe because no one has ever found the answer or maybe because the meaning of life is something unique to every individual.
Nevertheless I wanted to figure out the purpose of life so I knew how to live. After a lot of reading and reflection over several years I came up with a two-pronged answer. We have a purpose in life on the physical level as a living animal on Planet Earth. And we have a purpose on the spiritual level, as vibrant energy beings. God only, has the answer.

I'll admit we all have days when rejoicing is one of the last things on our minds as we face a new day. However, this Scripture in Psalm 118:24 tells us we should rejoice and be glad in it. It doesn't say when you feel like it or when you have some eagerness about the day. There is no condition to it. It simply states,rejoice and be glad in it. So that would indicate all the time no matter what!

This is sick and it bothers me.

13 MENTAL FITNESS EXERCISES TO KEEP YOU SHARP

1. Use Your Other Hand- Whenever basic tasks become second nature (requiring no concentration,) our brains fail to get any exercise. One way to give your brain a workout is to use your other hand for common tasks. If you’re right handed, try eating with your left hand. Brush your teeth with your other hand too. This might sound easy enough, but you’ll find yourself actually focusing on accomplishing these simple tasks. As a result, your mind gets a good workout.

2. Shop without a List- Sometimes, we make things a little too easy on ourselves. Shopping with a list of everything you need means you can mindlessly coast through the supermarket without lifting a mental muscle. Instead, why don’t you try hitting the store without that list in hand? At the very least, hide the list in a pocket and see how much of it you can remember.

3. Engage in Conversations Each Day- Between social networking and text messaging, does anyone actually have conversations anymore? It’s good to chat it up with friends because it causes you to focus on what others are saying and to instantly think of your response. This exercise works best when you get past meaningless conversation and into deep, insightful discussions.

4. Read New Books- If you usually read fiction, try reading a history book. If you usually read magazines, try picking up the business section of your newspaper. Reading new things expands your mind, giving you a great mental workout.

5. Exercise Your Body- Physical exercise doesn’t just make you big and strong; it also keeps your brain active. Studies show that regular exercise fights depression, reduces stress, and improves self-confidence. All of these things help your mind operate more efficiently.

6. Change Your Daily Routine- Remember what I said earlier about when things become second nature, your brain stops working? Keep your mind working by constantly shaking up your daily routine. Maybe you can take a different route to work. Or instead of coming home to relax every day after school, maybe you can join a club that meets weekly. Change it up!

7. Start a Project- Working on a project is good for a couple of reasons: a) It gives you a sense of purpose as you do something productive; b) More importantly, it forces you to focus on completing a large task over a long period of time. Whether you want to build a model car or write a book, a long-term project is essential for mental fitness.

8. Use Your Other Senses- The ultimate goal of mental fitness exercises is to stimulate all of your senses. There are several ways you can do this. For example, as you enjoy your meal, try identifying all of the ingredients as you chew. Or, try eating with your eyes closed without making a mess. If your senses are sharp, your mind will be too.

9. Expand Your Vocabulary- Learning new words doesn’t just make you sound smart in social settings, it keeps your mind fit as well. Try learning a new word every day.

10. Pay Attention to the Tiny Details- When you walk into a room, take notice of the little items that decorate the space. Likewise, when you meet someone, take note of their complete outfit down to the tiniest details. This constant attention to detail means your mind will always be working.

HOPE IN THE MIDST OF DISPAIR.

Nigeria is among the 20 poorest nations in the world, as almost 66% of Nigerians live below the poverty line of one US dollar a day. Nigeria, a country of over 133 million people, has experienced severe hardship since the decline of the oil boom. The large scale unemployment and the desperation for survival among the populace have led to numerous vices. Despite huge resources and efforts directed at restoring progressive social norms, Nigeria is acclaimed to be the second most corrupt nation in the world. These factors and many others have affected the country’s overall prosperity, with a weakening currency and high inflation. Unemployment rates and poverty levels drastically worsen by the day. For the average Nigerian, diverse problems create a hopeless state of economic uncertainty. Companies are forced to downsize and retire their staff early. Plundering of the nation’s scarce resources and high capital flight to foreign banks continue to make our country an enigma before patriots of other nations, despite the war against corruption being waged by the federal government. Bringing it to the individual level, Nigerians, especially students, now have limited control over their destiny. Citizens in employment realize that, though they do not have any spare time for other important things in their lives, they are overworked and underpaid. Debts, bills and medical costs rob families of financial resources. Our purchasing power has fallen more than 14,000% since the time the Naira was at par with the dollar in the 70’s. From the above analysis, it is obvious that the entire situation in the country offers no bright future for the working class and the youth. The youths in general are pummeled with various criminal options calling for their attention, such as advanced fee fraud (419), internet fraud, etc. Many have lost their sense of destiny and are left in a state of utter despondency. As a result, the mindset of the youth can be depicted in the French saying ‘Que sera sera’ meaning ‘What will be, will be.’ There is no drive to excel, as many look for better opportunities outside Nigerian shores. Is there a way out of this hopeless situation? Can we wriggle out of this confusing state we find ourselves in? Is there any solution or have we gone beyond the state of redemption? Can anyone still find the drive within to succeed? Where can we find these answers? Do we wait for the government or can we find them within ourselves? Surely there is hope in the midst of despair.
These answers lie within you! They are in your mind. Whatever goals and dreams you can envision in your mind will materialize in your life. Think about that for a minute! Whatever you focus your mind and energies on will manifest itself into reality. You should learn to conceptualize your dreams, this way they will soon become real. Just like an artistic concept waiting to be created by the artist, so are your dreams waiting to materialize. It is time to brace yourself and redirect your focus from the dismal situation of the country.

With stress and depression being increasingly common in the UK today, perhaps it is time that the health benefits of taking some regular time out should be more widely publicised.
The current idea of taking a vacation from work is to take a holiday which involves doing activities constantly for a week. Consequently, the vacation often ends up being as stressful as the job that was left behind. Many people recall the feeling of being shattered by the time they have got back from their holiday, yet this surely defeats the purpose. In order to get the full health benefits of a vacation, it is paramount to do as little as possible and to use the time to relax mind and soul; to return home feeling rejuvinated.
Idleness is often frowned upon in modern society, yet it is an important part of human mental health. It allows people to gather thoughts, to gain perspective, and to relieve stress. A certain amount of being idle is essential to a happy, fulfilled life.

AGE, DREAMS AND ACHIEVING YOUR DREAM

The unborn baby is in a completely different world physically and psychologically to the adult, or even to the six-week old baby. Although we cannot be certain of what the unborn baby dreams, we can give an educated guess. The information behind the guess arises from the experience of people who undertake very deep psychological explorations into the unconscious using modern therapeutic techniques. In a sense they are like deep-sea divers who don special equipment to explore the depths of the unconscious. What they report is that their baby self, existing as it does without language or focused self-awareness, lives in a world of complete identification with the forces of life creating it. Toward the end of its life in the womb it begins to have a more focused sense of a relationship with another being – its mother. Before that there was no feeling of separation. Because it has not yet experienced vision, its dreams are long slow experiences of sensation, of feeling. One explorer of these deeps, attempting to put his experience into words expresses it as follows:
Unknown to myself I am the swimmer.Music I do not hear moves me toward the sea I do no know.For I am the music - Each movement a beat - Each swift turn a passage in the flow of life.I know not - Yet I am a swimmer in the river,Close to me as my own unknown, without boundary.I am the imperative - Survive!Fear is my being, reaching tendril fingersInto the great ocean toward which I swim -Immense beyond all my experience of fear,Older than I am I go fearfully fearlessTo the sea.


This sea toward which this little swimming life form is moving is birth. Frighten because it is a huge new world that it already senses ahead. Imperative because its whole urge is to live, to survive, and it must enter the ‘sea’ to continue living. This is because all things in existence change, and the little swimmer’s season of life in the womb will end. So not only is it dreaming about what it senses it is moving toward, but also it faces in dreams what its own inner changes are.

TIPS ON HOW TO LIVE YOUR DREAMS

There are many steps in realizing your dreams…
The first thing is to make a decision that you want to actualize that particular dream.

The next step is to write down in graphic detail what the outcome of the dream looks like. So you actually start with the end in mind. if your dream is to have a beautiful new home for you and your family – then write down what you imagine the home looking like, who will be living there, imagine walking through the home and the emotions that you feel, the things you hear, the smells. Write it all down like a little story as if you were there and living it. The main thing people have to keep in mind when they want to realize their dreams is That they have to take ACTION to realize their dreams – it is all very good and having a clear dream and then imagining it frequently, however when the opportunities arrive to allow them to access that dream then they need to take ACTION.
Many people don’t take action and are often surprised that their dreams and goals aren’t coming true – the first step is getting clear on the dream in your mind and the next step is getting in action in the world to ensure that your mental image collides with reality. Another piece of advice that helps me often when challenges arise – “Don’t give up before the miracle arrives”. Just keep taking the next obvious step and the next step and the next you will reach your dreams!!!!!!!!!

SET YOUR GOALS AND CELEBRATE!

Studies tell us that only 3% of people in the USA set goals, and they are among the wealthiest people in the nation! Worldwide the percentage is probably lower. Why so low? There are several reasons, but the one that concerns us the most at Ziglar Training Systems is lack of know-how. When we ask people why they don't set goals they often say, "I don't know how."Isn't that remarkable? We send children to school for 12 years in America before they graduate from high school. Many of them go on to trade schools, colleges and universities. We teach them many important disciplines including history, economics, literature, science, and so forth, but we miss one critically important skill: goal setting. We award them their degrees, pat them on their backs, and send them into the world full of wisdom, but ill-prepared, almost always, to design and pursue the lives they really want.And all that's required to change this deficiency is a single semester, even half a semester, devoted to teaching goal setting. It doesn't seem likely that we're going to change the American educational system any time soon, or the world's educational system, but that's not going to stop us from teaching you how to set goals.The letters and phone calls that we receive at Ziglar Training Systems are social proof that our goal setting programs work. We know that goal setting will help you change your life for the better, it will help you get what you really want from life. And when you do, that's reason for all of us to celebrate! So for the next several weeks we are going to help you set goals. Whether you're already a goal setter, you used to set goals and quit, or you've never set goals, these lessons will help you build a better life. They'll also help those you share them with, so don't be shy about forwarding this information!Lesson 1. Dream! Let your imagination run wild while you fill up a blank sheet of paper with everything you want to be, do or have. Many adults have lost their ability to dream and that's unfortunate. By dreaming you instill hope for your future, and with hope there's possibility. So your assignment this week is to dream. During this next week devote at least two private sessions to dreaming. We want you to create a Dream List filled with ideas. Your list should include at least 25 dreams about what you want to be, do or have.Lesson 2. After you complete your list, wait 24 to 48 hours and read each item on your list and answer the question: Why? If you can't verbalize in one sentence why you want to be, do or have this dream, then it's not a dream and it won' become a goal. Cross it off your list.Lesson 3: Ask the following five questions of every dream on the Dream List you created last week.1. Is it really MY goal? 2. Is it morally right and fair to everyone concerned? 3. Is it consistent with my other goals? 4. Can I emotionally commit myself to finish this goal? 5. Can I "see" myself reaching this goal? 6. You must answer "yes" to all five questions for each goal, or cross that goal off your list.Here are some points to ponder: Is it really MY goal or is it a goal someone else wants me to pursue? Is it the right thing to do? Will achieving this goal distract from achieving other goals? Goals are often difficult to achieve. Are you sure you can make the commitment to pursue this goal and see it through? If you can't "see" yourself reaching this goal, you probably won't.Take time during this week to think about the questions above and answer them. Once you're finished, your Dream List will probably be a bit shorter than when you started out. That's okay because you're now closer to identifying the goals that you really will pursue and can achieve.Lesson 4:Ask the following seven questions of every dream that remains on your Dream List (or goals list).Will reaching this goal . . .1. make me happier?2. make me healthier?3. make me more prosperous?4. win me more friends?5. give me peace of mind?6. make me more secure?7. improve my relationships with others?If you can't answer Yes to at least one of these questions for each goal, eliminate that goal from your list. Be sure to consider your family when you answer these questions. And do not confuse pleasure with happiness!Here we go with Lesson 5:After asking the questions posted in Lesson 4 you will have eliminated some of your goals. Actually, they were not goals, just thoughts or desires at this point, so you're better off without them.Separate your remaining list of goals into one of three categories: Short-range (one month or less to achieve this goal), Intermediate (one month to one year to achieve this goal), or Long-range (one year or more to achieve this goal).This lesson will help you quickly determine whether or not you have a balanced perspective between what needs to be done now, versus your dreams for the future.Remember: Some goals must be BIG to make you stretch and grow to your full potential. Some goals must be long-range to keep you on track and greatly reduce the possibility of short-range frustrations. Some goals must be small and daily to keep you disciplined. Some goals must be ongoing. Some goals (i.e., weight loss, sales success, education, etc.) may require analysis and consultation to determine where you are before you can set the goals. Most goals should be specific. A "nice home" is not as good as a "3,000 square-foot, Tudor- style home with four bedrooms, three full baths, and two living spaces."Here we go with the final lesson:After tracking your first few goals on the General Goals Procedure Chart you are likely to have many additional goals that remain to be charted. Take time now to chart those goals. If you need a copy of the chart, send a blank email to editor@zigziglar.com?Subject=GoalsChart. The word GoalsChart (as written) must be on the Subject line of your email!Be sure to work each goal through the process of the chart. Be selective. You may not be able to work on all of your goals at one time! Don,t over do it. If you only have time to complete one or two goals for the remainder of this year, don,t apologize. Do a little bit more than you can, but do not overextend your time to the point that you don,t complete any of your goals. Do not get frustrated by the process! Work the system and it will work for you. We can fill a book with the number of letters that Zig receives about the effectiveness of his simple goal-setting program. Trust the system.Once you have charted your goals and plotted the activities that you intend to do to fulfill your goals, pat yourself on the back! You have just spent more time planning your future than most of your friends, relatives or associates will ever invest! Good for you.

WHAT ARE THE SIGNS OF DEPRESSION?

If your temperament has a mix of melancholy, then there is the tendency to worry, be in despair, criticize and condemn. If not curbed, this constant approach to life may be a warning sign for potential depression. Here are some signs you may encounter when depressed:


Appetite and Sleep Changes: Depression altars a person's appetite, frequently causing a lack of appetite, but occasionally increasing hunger. Depression also causes disruption of a person's sleeping patterns. A person may tend to over sleep, but sleep for a shorter time period.
Changes in Energy Level: There are two extremes concerning energy levels in depressed people. Some find themselves fidgety and easily agitated, while others become sluggish and inactive. A person may experience difficulty in thinking, poor concentration and problems with memory.
Poor Self-Esteem: A depressed person is often overwhelmed by feelings of worthlessness, guilt, self-blame, and helplessness. The person maintains a distorted view of reality; they see an ugly person when they look in the mirror, a complement becomes a criticism, and life becomes too difficult to live out. Seriously depressed people often contemplate suicide.
Psychotic Symptoms: Delusions (false beliefs) and hallucinations (false sensory perceptions) are sometimes prevalent among seriously depressed people. People with such symptoms need to be hospitalized. When they are released from the hospital, they are often moody when they get out and still consider suicide as a viable way out of their misery.
The warning signs of depression mentioned above have a common link: your mental approach to life. You may think: "How simple, all I have to do is have a better outlook on life?" Not so fast, if a negative mental attitude has been your first defense or your only approach to life up till now, it is going to take considerable doing to reverse it. Do not try to overcome this depression on your own; ask God to help you in the renewing of your mental attitude and the refocusing of your entire life in accordance with the purpose He has for you.

COPING WITH DEPRESSION:THERAPY OPTION

There are also therapy options for coping with depression, such as talking with a qualified counselor who can talk through problems with you, teach coping skills, and provide support systems. I went to a Christian therapist. At times, this was a challenge for me. He would tell me to look to my faith for answers and I wanted to scream. I was looking to my faith, but I was not finding the answers. Or perhaps, I was getting answers, but I wanted different ones! We were able to discuss circumstances and I learned how to cope in various situations. My depressed feelings began to lift and I began to cope with challenges in my life. I began finding strength in my faith.

COPING WITH DEPRESSION; FINDING YOURSELF WORTH

One thing is certain in this world – we’ll all face trials. How do we deal with them? Do we merely provide objective solutions or do we dig in to help with emotional support. Read this and see where you can grow!A big means of coping with depression came through finding my true self worth. I had previously based my self worth on the approval of my friends and on my ability to perform in my job. When I could no longer fulfill my work responsibilities due to a very wrong decision I had made, I felt worthless. Over time, I began to realize that my true self worth does not come from within me. It comes from God-my Creator. God loves me. Through this tremendous love, I have once again found worth and significance in my life. He is my significance!

PACKAGED AS WE EXPECTED

This is a story an inspiring story about a young man. you should read it!!!!!!!!!
Many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book. Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...PAID IN FULL. How many times do we miss God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected?

DETERMINATION COMES WHEN YOU FIND YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE

In life, we often let our dreams go down the drian because of the huddles we have to cross in achieving them. this is a story of a man that so inspired me. its a story on determination.
In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea to build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. However bridge building experts throughout the world thought that this was an impossible feat and told Roebling to forget the idea. It just could not be done. It was not practical. It had never been done before.
Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. He thought about it all the time and he knew deep in his heart that it could be done. He just had to share the dream with someone else. After much discussion and persuasion he managed to convince his son Washington, an up and coming engineer, that the bridge in fact could be built.
Working together for the first time, the father and son developed concepts of how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome. With great excitement and inspiration, and the headiness of a wild challenge before them, they hired their crew and began to build their dream bridge.
The project started well, but when it was only a few months underway a tragic accident on the site took the life of John Roebling. Washington was injured and left with a certain amount of brain damage, which resulted in him not being able to walk or talk or even move.
"We told them so.""Crazy men and their crazy dreams.""It`s foolish to chase wild visions."
Everyone had a negative comment to make and felt that the project should be scrapped since the Roeblings were the only ones who knew how the bridge could be built. In spite of his handicap Washington was never discouraged and still had a burning desire to complete the bridge and his mind was still as sharp as ever.
He tried to inspire and pass on his enthusiasm to some of his friends, but they were too daunted by the task. As he lay on his bed in his hospital room, with the sunlight streaming through the windows, a gentle breeze blew the flimsy white curtains apart and he was able to see the sky and the tops of the trees outside for just a moment.
It seemed that there was a message for him not to give up. Suddenly an idea hit him. All he could do was move one finger and he decided to make the best use of it. By moving this, he slowly developed a code of communication with his wife.
He touched his wife's arm with that finger, indicating to her that he wanted her to call the engineers again. Then he used the same method of tapping her arm to tell the engineers what to do. It seemed foolish but the project was under way again.
For 13 years Washington tapped out his instructions with his finger on his wife's arm, until the bridge was finally completed. Today the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge stands in all its glory as a tribute to the triumph of one man's indomitable spirit and his determination not to be defeated by circumstances. It is also a tribute to the engineers and their team work, and to their faith in a man who was considered mad by half the world. It stands too as a tangible monument to the love and devotion of his wife who for 13 long years patiently decoded the messages of her husband and told the engineers what to do.
Perhaps this is one of the best examples of a never-say-die attitude that overcomes a terrible physical handicap and achieves an impossible goal.
Often when we face obstacles in our day-to-day life, our hurdles seem very small in comparison to what many others have to face. The Brooklyn Bridge shows us that dreams that seem impossible can be realised with determination and persistence, no matter what the odds are.
Even the most distant dream can be realized with determination and persistence.
